Big hugs and high-fives are in order for Pedro "Pete" Rodriguez, one of US AutoLogistics' maintenance technicians in the Houston shop, on celebrating his 30 years of service with the company.

Pete was hired on September 15, 1992.

"I started with GST Trucking as a porter and warehouse helper. Mr. John Backhus and the company gave me the opportunity to become a mechanic. I've been loving it ever since," said Pete.

At the time, GST Trucking was based from the Port of Houston with 30 transports and was eyeing a new location to expand its operation. Possible sites for the new terminal and shop were narrowed to three—Hockley, TX; northeast Houston at Mesa Road and US-90 BUS; and Spring, TX.

"One day the company announced it was eventually moving to the Spring area. They gave me two years notice to relocate. My wife and I had plenty of time to make plans because we wanted to get out of Houston. So, we moved to Tomball. I'm so glad the company wanted me to continue to be a part of the future."

Although Pete is a bumper-to-bumper technician and is likely to diagnose and repair all types of equipment, he performs a lot of welding and fabrication as well as hydraulic and electrical repairs.

"I have never stopped learning. A couple of our guys might be a little faster with the computer, but I can hold my own. In our shop, we are always sharing information with each other. How to fix this. How to fix that. That's what I love about the company. We all look out for each other and help train."

Pete and his wife, Julie, still live in Tomball. They have three grown children and seven grandchildren.
